Frequently Asked Questions

Are my photos uploaded to any server?

No. All image processing happens 100% on your device. Your photos never leave your phone. Redactly uses Apple's on-device Vision framework — no internet connection is needed for any detection or redaction feature.

What's included in the free version?

The free version includes all detection categories (phone numbers, emails, faces, URLs, addresses, names), 3 redaction styles (blur, pixelate, solid fill), manual region selection, and the ability to process up to 3 images per day.

What does Redactly Pro include?

Pro unlocks unlimited daily processing, batch redaction (up to 50 images), 6+ redaction styles, full edit history, and custom redaction presets.

How do I restore my purchase?

Open Redactly → Settings → Restore Purchases. If your subscription is active, Pro features will be restored automatically. Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID used for the original purchase.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are managed through Apple. Go to iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Redactly → Cancel Subscription. You'll retain Pro access until the end of your current billing period.

Why can't the app detect certain text?

Detection accuracy depends on image quality, text size, and language. Very small text, heavily stylized fonts, or text on complex backgrounds may be harder to detect. You can always use the manual region selection to redact areas that auto-detection missed.

What does "Strip Metadata" do?

Photos contain hidden EXIF data including GPS location, camera model, and timestamps. When enabled, this feature removes all metadata from exported images, giving you an extra layer of privacy when sharing.

Which iOS versions are supported?

Redactly requires iOS 16.0 or later, and works on both iPhone and iPad.
